International Students' Dormitory (2)
Last year a couple of foreign students founded the Foreign Students' Association, in order to get in touch with other foreign students and most importantly help newcomers to get settled at Tsinghua University.
With the support of the Foreign Students' Office they organised for the second time a welcome party for new students on Sept 22nd, which took place in the building where the office is situated, too. At first we were not sure, if an official "party" would be such a great fun, but it was after all (no guards around ;-) ), as you can judge yourself by the pictures below... During this party I became a moon cake addict, even though Jinxin had warned me that no one eats them here but only buys them as present for relatives and friends. There are some nice ones, though, filled with red bean curd. The problem occurs only when they are filled with meat, since the dough always tastes sweet...
Party deadline was 12 p.m. once more. This time, however, we just changed place, which led me to a very nice discovery: Close to the Campus there is an "International Beergarden", where you get freshly draught beer fo only 4 Yuan (!!!), killing, isn't it?
If there weren't so many drunk Asians around (many Asians are a little bit sensitive in regard to alcohol), one could really think it was somewhere in Bavaria ... I do not know yet if I like this impression or not. I guess I have to go there a few more times in order to make up my mind :-).

Franco-Japanese cooperation for organisation -
here: award ceremony for the tombola.

More Germans...and German gallantry

Waiting to leave for the Beergarden

Making friends.... and to the right the entrance to the Beergarden!
